Chiropractic

Dr. Albano with a small patient. Health exists when every part of your body is functioning properly. True health can only occur if your brain can communicate, uninterrupted, with the rest of your body, tell it what to do, and when to do it. Maintenance of good health and a high quality of life depends upon the body's natural ability to continually adapt to changes in its environment. Ensuring this capability is one of nature's most remarkable and complicated communication networks, the Central Nerve System.

Chiropractors are not limited to treating just the spine. In fact, chiropractors treat every joint in the body as well as many other conditions involving them such as muscle strains and joint sprains. Chiropractic can help with many different conditions which affect the body such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, dystonia, fibromyalgia, repetitive stress injuries and many more.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy for neck problems. The Theralase Laser has successfully benefitted over 90% of our patients that have received laser therapy.

Walkerville Chiropractic uses the Theralase TLC-1000 laser, a super-pulsed, dual-wavelength, nine- laser/laser-diode system. It’s not your average laser. Its clinical applications range from sports injuries to pain relief and arthritis. Common uses include Achilles' tendinitis/tendinosis, arthritis pain and inflammation, ankle sprains, knee pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff tendinitis, frozen shoulder, golfer's elbow/tennis elbow, lower back pain, sciatica, sinusitis, faster wound and scar healing.

Laser therapy for arm problems. The theralase laser emits photons which stimulate injured or damaged tissue (photobiostimulation). Some of the effects at the cellular level are: decreased prostaglandin formation (decreasing pain); increased production of ATP (the basic source of energy for cells); increased production of endorphins and enkephalins (pain relief); increased production of immune system killer cells (boosts immune system function); increased cellular proliferation (faster healing); increased collagen and cartilage formation and epithelial tissue.

Some of the benefits of laser therapy:
  1. Decreased Inflammation – studies have shown that within 2 hours after laser therapy that the inflammation begins decreasing.
  2. Decreased Pain – Pain, acute or chronic, begins to decrease within minutes and continues to decrease, due to the continued effect of photobiostimulation up to 3 days, even with the first treatment.
  3. Increased Healing – Wounds, sprained ligaments and joints, and strained muscles and tendons heal faster than without laser treatment.
  4. Tissue Regeneration – Lasers have been proven to help regenerate damaged tissue (nerves, collagen, cartilage).

Theralase Laser FAQ

Does it hurt?
No. The laser is painless. Most people don’t feel a thing. You may be seated or laying down for treatment.

How many visits will I need?
Most people respond to treatment within one to six treatments. After that, it’s up to you how many more you’ll need. The typical laser session lasts only 15 minutes.

Does my insurance cover it?
Most extended health benefits cover Chiropractic care and therefore usually do cover laser therapy. A quick call to your insurance company can be made on your first visit to verify your coverage.

Are there any harmful side effects?
There are no harmful side effects to laser therapy when performed properly. The laser should not be directly shined into the eyes due to the concentrated beam of light. It should not be used over the abdomen of pregnant women or overtop any neoplasmic (cancerous) tissue due to its cell proliferation.
